Spring is one of my favorite times of the year. It is full of so many fresh beginnings and opportunities, and is a great excuse for heading to the mall or your favorite thrift store to pick up some new pieces! One of my favorite things to do in the beginning of the spring is a wardrobe purge. It’s such a refreshing feeling for me to sort through my wardrobe and eliminate those items that I no longer feel represent my personal style. And another one of the reasons why this is my favorite thing to do is that it allows me to make room for some new favorites in the closet! Here are my top 10 items that I recommend trying out for this spring!
A classic trench coat will never go out of style, and there are so many great options out there within anyone’s budget. A light khaki color is of course timeless, and you can pair this piece with anything from a casual jeans and t-shirt combo to an outfit for work. Tie the belt in a bow behind your back for a super cute casual look!
The days of “only wear white between Memorial Day and Labor Day” may be gone, but wearing white during these spring and summer months is still the most fashionable time of the year to do so! I just love a white skirt paired with a pop of color on top and some airy sandals. A pair of starburst earrings can complete the look, making your face stand out with a hint of gold shine to complement the white. Or if it is still the early colder spring months when you choose to wear white, try a white wool skirt. This choice of fabric can turn this item into a very versatile piece: the wool allows you to wear it all winter long and the white color still makes it appropriate for the spring and summer months.
There is nothing I love more than a crazy beautiful statement necklace, and spring is the perfect time to don one in a beautiful pastel color. And since I am constantly losing or breaking my jewelry, spending a lot of money on a statement necklace usually isn’t a good use of my income. Charming Charlie is one of my favorite places to go for jewelry that is beautiful yet affordable.
A light wash skinny jean is perfect for the spring and summer months! These pair great with a colorful tank and some sandals, or you can jazz up your outfit for an evening out on the town with some contrasting black pumps and a black blouse.
The warmer months are all about pops of color: it is so much easier to get away with amazing color combinations in the spring and summer than it is in the colder months of the year! Pair a bright V-neck cardigan with some white jeans on a chillier night, or layer over a white button down for work.
There is nothing that makes a girl feel prettier than an incredible pair of shoes! But finding a comfortable pair can sometimes be a challenge. Opt for a low to mid-height heel in a gorgeous spring color and pair it with your favorite white jeans for a seriously cute summer look!
A floral maxi dress is a must for the summer. Pair it with a cute white cardigan for cooler summer nights or throw it on over your swimsuit for a day at the beach. There are so many different floral patterned maxis out there that you might even want to stock up on more than just one!
A large checkered gingham button down is a perfect layering piece for the spring because it is a such versatile pattern. Wear it alone with a cute pair of khaki shorts and a straw fedora hat or layer it under a cardigan or casual blazer with your favorite pair of jeans!
An adorable crossbody bag is a must for the spring! Choose one with a beautiful contrasting chain handle in gold, silver or bronze. There are so many beautiful colors out there to choose from that are perfect for the spring months.
Last but not least, for those hotter days, shorts are essential. And there are so many adorable pairs of patterned shorts on the market! Purchasing a pair in a neutral color such as black, gray or beige will allow you to bring a unique pattern to your outfit while still giving you the ability to pair it with a number of different colorful items in your wardrobe.
