When I met my fiancé, it was love at first sight. And trust me, I know how cliche that sounds, but it’s true. We were both graduates of the University of Michigan, and we both love the city we studied in. Similarly, we were both Republicans, which is always helpful when you can agree on politics. We both also loved boy bands and were totally willing to admit it. And we both loved Mexican food.
I mean, that last one could have been a real deal-breaker, am I right? Who doesn’t adore a killer taco or get super overly excited about a plate of sizzling fajitas? So when it came time to choose the cuisine for our engagement party, there really wasn’t any question:
Mexican food isn’t necessarily the classiest of cuisines, but we still wanted our event to have that air of cocktail party elegance. Our amazing bartender, Glenn, mixed up delicious fresh margaritas and a killer white sangria, which were the downfall of many guests that night.
Here are some more photos from our amazing party, thrown by my incredible parents:
Our engagement party was small and cozy, with just family and and the bridal party. But it was exactly what we had hoped it would be: a beautiful, intimate affair filled with people we love.
After this, it’s all going to be about wedding prep and decision-making. Although I am excited about it, I’m also a bit nervous because…well, there’s so much to do. Arranging a wedding is definitely not easy, from what I’ve seen and heard.
Anyway, we’re getting married!
We cannot wait to celebrate again at our wedding next year!
P.S. Thank you to Calli, who took so many of these amazing beautiful photos at our party! You’re the best! <3
