Our latest DIY project is finally ready to reveal! Today I’m sharing how we recently painted our staircase black and we are loving the results!
Happy Monday, friends! I’m so excited to share todays post with y’all! I finally finished a DIY project I’ve been wanting to do for a few months around here: painting our staircase black! A black staircase is what our long term plans are for this space, as we would like to eventually renovate and have hard wood stairs with a black metal bannister. But as a “phase 1” renovation project (thank you Chris Loves Julia for expounding this idea – I absolutely love it!), we decided to paint the wood black to get a bit of a modern farmhouse vibe in this space now!
Later this week, I’m going to be sharing the whole process over on my YouTube channel, but for now, I wanted to share the finish product with y’all!
Details:
- Primer used: Kilz
- Paint used: Behr Ultra Scuff Defense
- Color: Benjamin Moore Blacktop (2135-10)

This is a great idea with a dark-colored staircase can put you in an uneasy path in the event of a change Thank you to sharing…

Compared to scars, however, they tend to be shorter or less damaged. Therefore, you may want to consider deep paint or protective runners for lt trades to maintain the overall look. Stairs, such as floors, may require some more prep work as they get more traction than the walls.

Paint stairs and railings, especially when carefully prepared and used with the right paint, can have a long life. Compared to scars, however, they tend to be shorter or less damaged.
