Hello, friends! I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season! I absolutely love the holidays and part of the reason is that I love decorating for it! Putting up the Christmas trees, dressing up our staircase with garlands, and lighting up the trees outside – it all adds to the magical feeling of this time of year!
I feel like I love it even more this year, and I think that’s because it’s Sophie’s first Christmas. Even though she won’t remember it outside of the million+ digital photos I’ve taken on my iPhone and Nikon, the hubs and I will remember how special her first Christmas was! Plus, my sister is due with her baby boy this month, which means Sophie will finally get to meet her cousin one day soon! Hang in there, Faith!

This year I was fortunate enough to have three Christmas trees, as the hubs and I ended up buying two artificial trees from Menards. We typically get two live trees, but don’t pick them up until the weekend after Thanksgiving. With the Thanksgiving holiday being so late this year, and because I decided I want to start decorating earlier in November than usual so I don’t have to rush the decorating process so much (especially helpful with a newborn!), we ended up heading to Menards to pick up an artificial tree for the dining room and our bedroom. We then still got our one live tree for the family room last weekend.
I like mixing the artificial and live trees because it’s the best of both worlds: it’s so fun to decorate the artificial trees and you have so many options for decorating them! But. . . there is just something about the fresh pine smell of a live tree that can’t be replicated!
