Today I’m sharing how to build the ultimate 2022 holiday tablescape for the Christmas season!
Happy Monday, friends! It’s somehow already Thanksgiving week, how is November almost over?! We are gearing up for lots of food later this week, and so I wanted to share 6 easy steps for setting up the perfect holiday tablescape this season!

step 1: pick your linens
First you’ll need to choose linens, of course! I like to do either a table cloth or a runner, and then choose napkins to match as well. I prefer leaning towards a more neutral tablescape, and so for our dining room this year I chose this simple fringed natural runner and elegant charcoal linen napkins.
step 2: choose silverware
I have to say, I’m a sucker for gold flatware! That being said, we also have a set of antique silver flatware that I like to pull out for more rustic style tablescapes.
step 3: plate/bowl selection!
Simple white dishes are always elegant and the perfect choice for any event. But other colors and patterns can be fun to switch things up too! I’ve been using these black and white buffalo check plates for a few years now, and I love pairing them with my “Merry” plates – which are back in stock again this year at Pottery Barn!
step 4: choose glassware
I usually like to set out a water glass and at least one wine glass per setting for dinner, and use a large pitcher for ice water so people don’t have to head back to the kitchen for beverages! I love our classic Nattie wine glasses from Crate & Barrel – the perfect shape and so affordable!
step 5: make choices about florals and other decor
The fun part! This year I went with a set of beautiful cedar garlands paired with tiny snowy pinecones. A simple gold bell garland adds a bit of shine to complete the look!
step 6: choose your lighting
I love to add candles to any holiday tablescape, and I am ob. sessed. with these tall tapered hobnail candles! The texture is beautiful, the color is perfect for adding to a neutral tablescape for this season, and I love the beautiful glow that any candles can add to a tablescape this time of the year. Another option would be smaller candles to avoid any issues with line of sight while conversing over the dinner table!
