Simple and classic style comes together in today’s OOTD: a gray plaid blazer paired with boyfriend jeans, cashmere, and black leather loafers.
When we were in Grand Rapids a few weeks ago, we came across this adorable wooden covered bridge in nearby Ada, MI. Built in 1867, the Ada Covered Bridge spans the width of the Thornapple River, and let me tell you: it’s a popular place!
We raced over to the bridge at sunset to grab these photos, and there was a massive group of what looked like middle schoolers, dressed to the nines and waiting there in small groups to take photos on the bridge. Possibly Winter Formal, possibly Sadie Hawkins? Either way, it brought me back to all those middle school and high school dances, full of awkward conversations and terrible 90’s and early 2000’s looks!
I’d like to think I’m a little more stylish as a 32 year old adult now, and so I’m sharing my take on the casual blazer + denim look today, with this favvvvorite gray plaid blazer of mine! It’s seriously a steal at under $50 from Forever 21, and it’s really versatile. The sleeves can be worn down or rolled up, like I did for this look, and it is as easy to wear to work as it is to dress up some jeans, like I did for this casual dinner look.
The funny story about this OOTD is that these jeans were my moms! Periodically she hits me with a big bag (okay, usually two or three bags) of stuff she doesn’t want anymore and asks if I want any of it to sell. Well of course these St. John boyfriend denim jeans made the cut. As I was taking photographs of them to list on Poshmark, I thought “dang! These are actually kind of cute!” They’ve got zippered back pockets and zippers at the bottom of the outer seams on each leg, but I figured I would try them on. They fit well and they had such a cute relaxed look, so I rolled up the pant legs and I’m keeping them! Thanks, mom! (I’ve linked a really similar style in terms of fit and color below too!)
