I want a pool. So bad. I want a pool so I can sit on a a comfy little lounge chair sipping delicious, refreshing slushies like this one right next to it. That’s a totally reasonable request, right? I thought so too! Unfortunately the hubby disagrees. Womp womp. Also: he is totally correct in how much cost and maintenance is involved in putting a huge in-ground pool in. He literally said to me: “I’ll get you a hot tub and put a flamingo floatie in it for you.” I kid you not.

SO, for now I am resigned to just drinking delicious, refreshing slushies on my deck. Which is made infinitely better by these flamingo straws, inspired by a recent trip to Anna Maria Island. I just can’t even with these straws!

What makes it all even better is that today, the second Saturday in June, is National Rosé Day! Wow, thanks you guys! You made a holiday just for me 😀 Considering the fact that my family could probably prop up the entire rosé industry on our own, that statement is just partially true.

But back to these watermelon slushies! Slushies are always a great summer drink, and I think it’s for several reasons. First of all, they are easy to make in batches. Throw everything into a blender, even double up the ingredients for a larger crowd, and you’ve got a drink ready in like 30 seconds. Second, they are a great way to incorporate fresh fruit into your cocktails, which I think makes everything taste just delicious! Third, all that ice makes for a really nice cold drink, which is exactly what you need when it’s 85 degrees outside!

So what do you need for the perfect blackberry and watermelon slushies? While any blender will do, when I’m using a berry in my slushies I prefer to use a really powerful blender like our Vitamix. It has multiple settings that help you build up to a really high speed blend, which is perfect for incorporating those tiny little berry seeds. Click below to purchase the same model:

And life would not be complete without these flamingo straws. I mean, how can you drink slushies any other way? 😀
