Fall and winter home decor always have their challenges, but personally I find transitioning from winter to spring and summer decor can be the most challenging! Sure, adding fresh greenery is a great way to bring those lovely spring colors indoors, but how do we make our homes feel fresh after the winter holiday cheer has worn off? Especially when it’s muddy and wet outside, or worse – still snowing!

Spring Transitional Home Decor Tips

1. Fresh flowers and greenery!

First let’s get the obvious out of the way – bringing in bouquets of fresh flowers or beautiful greenery stems is definitely the quickest and easiest task that can be done for successful spring transitional home decor. My biggest trick though is to bring in the most life-like and realistic faux greenery that I can, and then accent with a bouquet of fresh flowers occasionally. For example, our new front doors (which I’m crazy obsessed with btw!) are adorned with a pair of magnolia wreaths I picked up a few weeks ago. I love how fresh and simple they are, allowing the beautiful architecture of the doors to shine through!

2. Embrace neutrals!

Having a neutral color palette in your home can make transitioning between seasons easier, and it makes for especially inviting spring and summer decor because they provide a naturally calming and serene color palette. It also allows any greenery or floral displays you have to pop against a beautiful background! Another addition I made was this beautiful bench made from reclaimed barn wood we picked up at a local antique festival last fall, with a mix of metals and warm brown tones.

3. Keep it simple!

I absolutely love the holidays, starting with all the decorations on our Christmas trees, to the garlands trailing down the stair railings, right down to all the other bits and bobs I like to tuck all around our house. But by the time spring rolls around, I want clean and simple, a fresh start to a fresh season.

So my last bit of advice is to not go overboard and remember that less is more! For example, in our kitchen I opted for just a large glass vase on the counter with a couple of greenery stems, and I love the minimalist look of it for the spring! (Plus my furry little helper helps make any space inviting!)
