Happy Monday, friends! I am suuuuper excited for todays post: another room finished in our house for me to share with y’all! If you’ve been following along over on my Instagram stories, you’ll know we recently embarked on our second ever tiling project. . . and this one I did a ton of the work on! We previously had tiled the backsplash in our first home, but primarily my dad and husband worked on that project. This time around, I wanted to get in on the action too! I helped with the tiling, and also did all the grouting for the project. But let’s start from the beginning. . .

My husband loves to joke that this bathroom experienced the “new paint effect.” This, according to him, is when you say to yourself “I’ll paint the walls in this room, it’s an easy way to change up the feeling of the room without spending too much money. Perfect!” And then a week later there is new furniture or a wicker wastebasket, and a week after that the flooring has to be replaced.

In this bathroom, it was the sink faucet. This tiny bathroom is off of our mudroom, and I love it because it’s easy access to pop in from the kitchen as well as from the garage while hubby is working in his wood shop. The bathroom is so tiny that there really isn’t any room for a full-sized sink, and so this corner sink had to stay. But the faucet was so short and non-functional that while we were browsing Menards one weekend, I mentioned to my husband that maybe we could switch it out to something newer and more functional. So we switched it out, and roughly a week later I was making plans to change everything else too. 😀

Our home is a modern farmhouse style, leaning more towards the transitional/modern style with just some hints of farmhouse here and there. The easiest choice for the bathroom was the paint, which is the same color that we plan to paint the rest of our first floor with (my home office is already the same color!). Benjamin Moore Balboa Mist is the wall color that we settled on, a nice combination of gray and beige, and I thought it would be fun to put in a tile accent wall behind the toilet. I sampled a number of tiles, but finally settled on this beautiful ivory arabesque tile with a dark gray grout. I absolutely love this classic tile shape!

I wanted clean lines for the rest of the decor, and so I chose a simple round mirror and nice wooden floating shelf. I finished it off with just a couple of special touches of decor, and the cutest little soap dispenser!

Now it’s your turn: share with me below which room in your house you want to do “the new paint effect” to! 😀
