My Five Must-Read Food Blogs

When it comes to cooking, I love trying recipes from all over the place. My cookbook shelf is constantly expanding, but I also love to try recipes found on Pinterest or throughout the blogosphere. Here are my top five favorite food blogs I have been reading religiously this year!

1. The Kitchn

10 Common Mistakes That Every Cook Makes. Photo from The Kitchn.

The Kitchn is my number one daily “foodie” read. Each day they feature short articles about all sorts of interesting topics, from recipes, to the scientific aspects of cooking food and beyond. What I love about this blog is that their articles range from more simple pieces for beginner cooks to a variety of more complex articles. For example, they recently posted a piece about the 10 Common Mistakes That Every Cook Makes, which was a great review of the classic principles of cooking. And in the same week they explained to us all the science behind how a microwave heats our food. It is this variety in article topics that keeps me coming back almost every day to check out the latest food news!

2. I am a Food Blog

When it comes to food blogs, I absolutely love seeing a blog with stunning photography that not only makes my mouth water but makes me want to go and cook the recipe that very same night for dinner! One of my favorites is I am a Food Blog. This blog features incredibly crisp and clean photography with each and every enticing recipes. My current favorites that I am looking forward to trying soon include the Beef Wontons with Spicy Chili Oil and Noodles and the One-Pot Lemon Scallop Pea Spaghetti.

3. FoodieCrush

FoodieCrush is a great blog for beautiful yet easy weeknight meals. Sometimes it is hard to find food that not only looks and tastes incredible, but is also healthy. And FoodieCrush has some great options for healthy, delicious recipes! Some of my favorites right now are Coconut Baked French Toast with Oatmeal Crumble (make ahead deliciousness? Hello, Sunday morning!) and Oven Roasted Chicken with Lemon Rosemary Garlic Butter (I just love how the house smells up with deliciousness with an oven roasted chicken!).

4. Pinch of Yum

Of all of the food blogs I enjoy following, this was one of the first. Pinch of Yum features a great balance between mouthwatering recipes, personal stories about the couple behind the blog, and very informative posts regarding how they have made their blog successful and profitable. So far some of my favorite recipes I have made include the Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Cookie with Caramel and Sea Salt (no judgement, please) and the Filipino Fried Chicken. If you own your own food blog or have been thinking about starting one, definitely check out Lindsay and her husband Bjork’s reports on their blog income and traffic.

5. Joy the Baker

And finally… dessert! Joy the Baker is one of my favorite go-to food blogs for all things baking! Joy is the author of two amazing cookbooks and she also shares her delightful recipes with her followers on her food blog, Joy the Baker. I confess that for years I have loved the Tollhouse chocolate chip cookie recipe on the back of the chocolate chip bag… but Joy’s recipe for The Best Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies has me converted! She also recently posted a recipe for Peanut Butter Bacon and Dark Chocolate Cookies that I can’t wait to try!
