Memorial Day is almost upon us, so I’m sharing today a roundup of all my favorite recipes for Memorial Day!
Hello, friends! I love a good holiday, because not only do the holidays mean time with friends and family, but good food! Normally, y’all know the food is the key component for me. . . 😀 but this year is different. After so long in quarantine with the stay-at-home order in our state, we made the decision that we would be spending some time with our closest family members. We all have been careful in public spaces, minimizing contact with others, prioritizing hand washing and not touching our faces, and wearing masks when appropriate. But a time comes when you worry about the socialization of your six month old daughter, during this incredibly important time in her development, and that time for us was now.
I don’t write about this lightly, because I know that things have become so polarized lately – a product of our society’s behavior for at least the last decade or so. With the current outbreak, the same thing has happened: two sides, dead set on the fact that their opinion is the only one that matters. But as usual, I try to find a common ground: because safety is important, but our mental health is too. Getting the regular medical care we need is important. Keeping the economy from plunging into a depression is important. Ensuring the healthcare system is prepared should cases rise again is important. Supporting businesses of all sizes is important. And spending time with our closest loved ones, our support system, is important. The key to this? Balance.
There will come a time when each of us has to make their own decision about how they are going to live their lives moving forward, and for us, we have made one small and important step. So with that said, I want to share with you guys some of my favorite recipes for you to cook for yourself and your loved ones – either in person or virtually,,whichever is more comfortable for you right now – on this Memorial Day Weekend! Enjoy!
