Today I’m sharing with you my autumn wish list, everything from cozy scarves to the perfect blazer! These are the perfect pieces to add to your closet to update your fall wardrobe this year!
Last week, Michigan weather psyched us all out by getting suuuuper chilly, followed almost immediately by some suuuuper summer vibe-ish days. Two weekends ago I wore a sweater, puffer vest, leggings and a hat to the Michigan football game, and last Saturday I was roasting in a tank top! Not to mention that I was totally getting into fall mode with those 60 degree days! But since I know that inevitably it will happen, today I’m sharing my autumn wishlist with you! There have been some great sales lately, and so it’s a great opportunity to pick up some staples for your fall wardrobe! Below I’ve shared my top six must-haves for the season, and if you continue reading I’ve offered a ton of great ideas for more fall staples that you need in your closet!

Sweaters are quintessentially fall, and this year I’m loving rusty red and burnt orange colors, like this beautiful red wrap sweater by Leith, or this chunky knit burnt orange cardigan by Urban Outfitters. It’s all about staying warm and cozy in the fall, and layering tanks or camis with these gorgeous sweaters is the best way to do it!

After the horror story that was wearing corduroy as an adolescent in the 90’s, I am beginning to love corduroy more and more each year! This year I’m loving it in dark hues such as burgundy and olive green. For example, pairing these forest green corduroy leggings (50% off right now!) with an ivory sweater and some brown or black boots (these are my all-time favorite by Sam Edelman!) for a comfy fall outfit.

The perfect hat can make a beautiful statement and complete an outfit, and it pulls double duty by keeping your head and ear warmer! I love felts for the fall, and in addition to the felt fedora linked above, I’m loving the idea of a cute felt beret too!
riding boots
I have always loved the riding boot look, and I think it is the perfect touch for any fall outfit. I love that it gives just a bit of extra interest and detail to your outfit, and that they are versatile enough to go from work to cider mill to date night. My favorite brand of riding boots recently has been Sam Edelman’s Penny riding boots in both black and whiskey brown. This type of boot is definitely an investment, but ensuring you stay on top of the upkeep for your leather boots with leather cleaner and polish will keep your boots look great for as many seasons as possible. (I’m going on season 3 with my pairs!)

I love a good statement necklace or chunky earrings, but this fall I am really feeling the classic dainty gold jewelry look. A classic slim gold watch like Tory Burch’s Dalloway watch, pairs perfectly with a pair of elegant gold studs such as these from Able. For a little more interest, these small tortoiseshell hoops add the perfect touch!
