There are endless items you can add to your baby registry, and endless questions about what is the right choice! Today I’m sharing what my eco-friendly favorites are on our registry!
Ohmygosh. . . we are bringing another human into the world! I’ve had a million and one questions about giving birth, how to raise a baby, what is the best sleeping situation for a newborn – and the list goes on. But one thing I knew from the beginning is that I wanted to try to be environmentally friendly on this journey, to help keep the world a bit cleaner for our baby’s generation.
This is not meant for shaming or judgment of other moms: we all have our choices and decisions to make. Time, money, brands, priorities, convenience, whether or not to buy a baby wipe warmer or not: these are all individual choices that only you can decide, so please keep that in mind when reviewing what is only my first-time mom-to-be’s opinions below!

1. The Nuna Pipa Infant Car Seat
The Nuna Pipa Infant Car Seat is already a popular choice among new parents, but I also love that it is made from eco-friendly textiles. It’s even GOTS-certified (that’s Global Organic Textile Standard). So not only do I know our girl will be safe, but it’s also an environmentally conscious product.
2. Comotomo Baby Bottles
The Comotomo bottles caught my eye first because of the sleek and stylish design – not going to lie! But the ultimately ended up on the registry for several reasons. Silicone means they are long-lasting, won’t break if the baby drops them, and they are more environmentally friendly in that they don’t contain BPA and less likely to leach chemicals. Silicone can also be recycled (albeit not in the conventional recycling bin) at the end of its life!
3. Cotton Organics Muslin Swaddle Blankets
These muslin swaddle blankets are also GOTS-certified, and are hypoallergenic – perfect for baby’s skin! They also contain no harsh chemicals or dyes.
4. Cloth Diapers (+ Assorted Items)
In the US, over 27 million disposable diapers go into landfills each year (that’s two per cent of landfill waste). I was shocked when I heard this fact, and also that it takes several hundred years for regular diapers to decompose. In lieu of this, the hubs and I are going to giver this cloth diaper thing a try, and are looking into getting a diaper service – with our busy lives and careers, this option seems to make the most sense for our family. In the meantime, I added these adorable diaper covers to our registry for baby girl to wear over her cloth diapers! Other items will need include a diaper pail, diaper pail liner, and diaper sprayer.

5. Cloth Wipes
Like I said above, we plan to try cloth diapering and see how it works for our family, and so cloth wipes will also be an essential component of that! I like these ones because they are made from bamboo and are free from dyes and bleaches.
6. Biodegradable Diapers
And for those times when cloth diapers just aren’t a realistic option (like traveling!), we’re opting for biodegradable diapers and wipes, because my mind was literally blown when I read that statistic about how long it takes a diaper to decompose. After some research, we settled on the above choices and will of course adapt as needed if these don’t work out for baby.

7. Newton Baby Crib Mattress
The Newton baby crib mattress is a great environmentally-friendly option too. It is GreenGuard Gold Certified to have the lowest level of chemical emissions, is 100% recyclable, and is also safe for baby. It was shown in testing to reduce suffocation risk.
8. Burt’s Bee’s Baby Burp Cloths
Also organic like the swaddles above, these burp cloths are made from 100% cotton and are GOTS-certified.
