Winter calls for some adjustments to our beauty regimen given all the cold weather and dry air, so today I’m sharing all my must-have beauty items for the winter and why each is essential to my routine! Remember, healthy skin starts from the inside out, so making sure that you are putting in good things for your body is important. hair care

A good shampoo and conditioner is a must! I have been religiously using the Olaplex system recently and while they are not cheap compared to the regular drug store shampoo and conditioners, I think the Olaplex shampoo and conditioner are worth every. single. penny. They leave my post-partum hair silky smooth and easily detangled, ready for blowdrying and styling!

This intense hydrating hair mask by Grow Gorgeous is a must! I try to do this hair mask at least once per week, because it seriously plumps up and hydrates my hair. It leaves the hair smooth and shiny after washing also, and smells divine!

The hair mask should be okay to use no matter the condition of your hair, but you may want to consult your hair specialist (if you have one) anyway. Especially if you have recently undergone any procedures for your scalp at a hair transplant clinic, then it’s always good to ask a doctor before you use any hair products, at least for a while after the treatment.

A general moisturizing body lotion is super important – I apply it multiple times throughout the day especially with the constant handwashing that we are all experiencing these days! I love this one from L’Occitane – it’s fragrant without being overpowering, and leaves my hands feeling silky smooth and not oily or greasy.

I wear an eye mask to bed nightly now, due to a condition called map-dot fingerprint dystrophy. This means I get repeated corneal abrasions at night which are intensified by dry eyes and by the REM cycle, where eye movements happen more rapidly. In order to minimize this I use not only a humidifier in my room, but this super soft silk eye mask to help minimize eyelid movement at night, which can typically exacerbate the condition. This silk eye mask is my favorite because it keeps the room so dark and it is so smooth on my skin, causing no irritation or redness!

This Bobbi Brown primer has been a regular in my makeup routine all winter long – and I love it mostly because it is super hydrating and goes on really smooth!

I also use a number of Elemis skincare products, especially this time of year because they add a fantastic layer of hydration to my skin. I have been using the pro-collagen cleansing balm and the pro-collagen marine cream for moisture, and the Superfood fruit vinegar liquid glow is the perfect daily toner!

An essential element to any winter skincare routine is a hydration mask to put on 1-2 times per week. This hydrating overnight face mask by Origins has been a key component of my winter skincare routine for a couple of years now, and it leaves my face feeling fresh and plump in the morning!

Aside from applying such products to your skin, which may only reach the epidermis layer of your skin, you could also include Vitamin C supplements in your diet. Humidifiers are great not only for keeping skin and hair moisture-filled during the dry winter months, but they can help reduce snoring, improve water intake for your household plants, and help reduce allergy symptoms.

In addition to the silk eye mask, I also use a silk pillowcase now. This has multiple benefits: it is softer on my skin at night but also softer on my hair because it doesn’t lead to as much breakage and damage of the hair strands while sleeping. The only disadvantage is that it is recommended to be hand washed, but this is a small price to pay for protecting my skin and hair overnight!
