Happy Saturday, y’all! We are just starting to get back in the groove of things after the new year. It’s been kind of exhausting around here lately, so many things to prepare! First up is getting on track with all of our goals for 2017. I’ve started a new workout routine that involves pilates and cardio, and both the hubby and I have started on the path towards a healthier diet as well! We also have some big changes to put in motion, including the sale of my loft which I’ve been renting out for the past few years.

It’s an odd thing, having to let go of something that was such a huge part of your life. Even though I haven’t lived in my loft in almost three years, visiting it to check on things before we clean it up and put it on the market brought a tear to my eye. I started my medical school education in this loft and went through a lot of tough times in medical school while living in it. I had friends and family over, I cooked dinner countless nights for myself and family. This was the loft where my addiction to Game of Thrones developed, and where I almost set the place on fire when I accidentally left a pot on the stove. (Yes, I am a fire starter turned food blogger.)

But as life would have it, all good things come to an end eventually, to make way for something even better, right? Definitely. I am lucky enough to now have a wonderful husband, two insanely cute puppies, and a beautiful first home with my hubby. A home that we have taken a lot of pride in doing DIY fixer-upper projects in, such as our DIY kitchen backsplash!

We chose a subway style marble tile, which I’m super in love with! I can’t imagine having any other backsplash style besides subway tile, to be honest. There are so many options for the style of the tiles and it always gives such a classic look. We also chose a darker grout – hides the dirt nicely and ties in with the countertop color scheme too. And I really love the variations in the marble tiles!
