Happy Monday, friends! I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend and was able to decompress. I’ve got the most delicious recipe for you today! This sausage and broccoli pizza is so flipping tasty and so easy to make!

Store bought pizza dough is so under-rated, you guys. We used to make fresh homemade pizza dough whenever we made pizza – and don’t get me wrong, that is delicious as well. But when you’e got a full time job, a husband, two dogs, and a one-year-old in addition to a blog and lots of home projects going on – store bought pizza dough is so convenient and tasty! I usually buy mine from Trader Joe’s or Plum Market, but just check your local grocery store to see what is available.

One tip: if your grocery store has a deli that makes prepared foods including pizzas, you may be able to ask them if you can buy one pouch of their fresh pizza dough! This is what I do at Plum Market and it’s the best!

For today’s pizza, I topped it with delicious crumbled pork sausage and kept it a little healthy with some simple marinara and fresh broccoli. I love how crunchy and charred the broccoli gets in the hot oven! Finishing it with some fennel seeds and goat cheese gives it a nice sophisticated overall taste. I hope you guys enjoy – let me know below what your thoughts are!

Broccoli Sausage Pizza with Marinara and Toasted Fennel Seeds

My broccoli sausage pizza has so many delicious vibes you'll want to make it asap! Sausage with broccoli, marinara, and toasted fennel seeds paired with goat cheese – my fav!

Prep Time 30 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Servings 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces pork sausage casing removed
  • 1/2 onion diced
  • Kosher salt
  • 1 pouch pizza dough enough for 2 pizzas
  • Cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 crown broccoli cut into florets and thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds lightly toasted (I just toast them in a small skillet, tossing occasionally, for a few minutes)
  • 2 ounces crumbled goat cheese

Instructions

  1. Place pizza stone in oven and heat to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook pork sausage, using a wooden spoon to beak up the meat. Cook until browned, then add onion and a pinch of kosher salt. Cook, stirring occasionally for about 5-8 minutes, until the meat is cooked through and the onions are softened. Remove to a bowl.
  3. Roll out pizza dough as thin as you desire. I usually purchase one ball of dough and cut it in half, so I can roll each half out very thinly.
  4. Spread a large pinch of cornmeal on a pizza peel and transfer one rolled out pizza crust to the pizza peel. Use a spoon to spread half the marinara sauce all over the dough in a thin layer. Top with half of the toppings (cooked sausage and onion mixture, sliced broccoli, fennel seeds, and goat cheese) and sprinkle with a pinch of kosher salt.
  5. Once pizza stone is heated, sprinkle with a large pinch of cornmeal and carefully transfer your pizza to the pizza stone. Cook for 10-11 minutes before removing and repeating with the second pizza.
