A Gingham Midi Skirt for the Spring

This navy gingham midi skirt is the perfect spring-to-summer transition piece, and is paired with a white blouse and jean jacket for a casual spring look.

Hello, from Anna Maria Island, once again! I wrote a travel guide about this vacation destination last year, and we loved it so much that the hubs and I decided to return that lovely island-life pace for another trip. Yesterday was our first full day, and we spent a lovely morning up on Bean Point before driving up to Clearwater to visit the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.

On the way home, we stopped off at Dr. BBQ’s in St. Petersburg, for some killer barbecue and sweet tea. Who would have thought this random out-of-the-way trip would now make us 2/2 on “meeting Food Network stars randomly while on vacation?”

Back in September 2018, we caught up with Masaharu Morimoto at his restaurant in Disney Springs one night. (PSA: Don’t miss the Peking Duck.) Yesterday, we were taken by surprise when we spotted Tyler Florence right before we walked out the door of Mr. BBQ’s! He was gracious enough to take a photo with us and is just as personable and kind in person as he appears to be on TV, and it was such a pleasure (and a surprise!) to meet yet another favorite of mine from the Food Network.

Now, let’s talk about this outfit. This skirt is everything – I am so obsessed! It’s lightweight and flowing, and incredibly comfortable. Plus, it traveled really well: it required no ironing or steaming, I just folded it in half lengthwise, rolled it up, and put it in my suitcase and it was ready-to-wear when I pulled it out in Florida. That is a big win in my book!

And this straw bag from Urban Outfitters is my new favorite beach bag! I’m going to do a review of it in the coming days as part of a “must-have travel bags” roundup, but for now: It’s lined. It’s spacious. It travels so well. And it’s so sturdy yet stylish!
