Hey y’all! We just returned from a fun-filled long weekend up on Mackinac Island, and I have so many photos to share! I thought I’d start off this little mini-series by sharing what I wore on day one of our trip. It turned out to be a lot nicer than I had originally anticipated once we finally arrived on the island after a 4 hour car ride and a 15 minute ferry ride, so I was so happy to swap out my sweater and jeans for this cute chambray sundress! I picked this up during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale earlier this summer, and I’m seriously obsessed. It’s so comfy and lightweight and those sleeves are just too cute!

On day one, we arrived around 2pm, and after a quick bite to eat we rode our bikes over to Arch Rock, one of the most well-known features of the island. This natural limestone formation stands on a bluff, 146 feet above the waterline on the eastern side of the island, and it is such a cool place to visit! We unfortunately arrived just as three carriage-loads (is that a word?) full of tourists were also arriving, and so we had to rush to get some good photos in before it became very busy. Next time, my husband and I plan to kayak around the island as well so we can see this amazing site from the water!

Then we headed back into town and over to our hotel for the weekend: The Grand Hotel. If you only go to Mackinac Island once in your life, you need to have this hotel as part of your experience. Between the impeccable service, the deliciously perfect meals, and the live jazz music played nightly in the ballroom, this historic hotel is like stepping back in time – I literally felt as if I was living The Great Gatsby movie, in real life.Next week I’ll be sharing my guide to Mackinac Island, and later this week I’ll be posting more outfits – so stay tuned to the blog and to my Instagram feed for all the detail!
