Today I’m sharing my modern farmhouse style inspiration board for our planned dining room renovation in our new house, Two Lakes Lodge!
I’m so excited to share with you guys my plans for our dining room today! The dining room is one of the most important rooms in the house, it is where we gather to break bread with family and and friends, and celebrate life’s moments. Those of you who have followed along with me for a while now will know how important I feel food is, shared with family and friends.
This is the current state of our dining room, in all its carpeted glory. When we moved into the home, there was a room off the kitchen that likely was used as the dining room, and also a room off the family room that we believe was a sort of den or library type space. We decided to switch these rooms, however, and will be walling off the home’s original dining room and turning it into an office, while the library/den will become the new dining room. The original dining room has a much smaller window, and has a vaulted ceiling, so it was much more conducive to feeling like a true dining room.

Our style inspiration for our new home is a modern farmhouse vibe, and so we want the room to be cozy and warm but also clean and sophisticated. Some of our inspiration photos are as follows:
The above rooms shiplap wainscoting is what we plan to do in the room first, and then paint the rest of the walls a dark hunter green. (You can see samples of the colors we are considering in the before photos above.)
I purchased the above vintage china cabinet from a seller on Etsy who repaints old pieces, and am absolutely in love with it! I have linked all my inspiration items below, and this beautiful hutch by Universal Furniture is quite similar to the one we purchased.
